Geely Launches Premium Electric Brand 'Geometry' In Singapore

By Azizul Ahmad SINGAPORE, April 12 (Bernama) -- Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co Ltd (Geely) on Thursday launched a pure electric car model, Geometry A, the automaker’s first globally strategic model from its newly-created energy brand, “Geely New Energy.” The new brand comes with a new silver logo highlighting the simplified elegance and streamlined purity of the brand’s pure electric models. "Geometry is committed to becoming the preferred brand for pure electric mobility by users around the world. "By 2025, Geometry will launch more than 10 pure electric models, which will include sedan, SUV (sport utility vehicle) and MPV (multipurpose vehicle)," said president An Conghui at the launch here Thursday night. Targeted for sales initially in the first and second tier cities in China, the Geometry A, with subsidised price starting from 150,000 renminbi (US$22,316), is aimed at a new generation of consumers who demand technology, seek minimalistic elegant designs, and consider themselves as part of the avant-garde. As of today, the company had received bookings of 27,000 units of Geometry A, said An. Geely is targeting new energy vehicles to make up 90 per cent of its vehicle sales by 2020, of which 35 per cent will come from pure electric models. Geometry A’s sedan comes in two versions -- standard range and long range versions which use ternary lithium batteries that have a capacity of 51.9 kilowatt-hours (kWh) and 61.9 kWh, respectively. The model can travel up to 500 kilometres (km) on a single charge, quite super economical as it costs only seven Singapore cents for every km and has a combined energy consumption of 13.5 kW/h per 100 km. -- BERNAMA
