Bahrain University inaugurates REL labs

Manama, Apr. 16(BNA): Four renewable energy laboratories (REL) were opened today at the University of Bahrain at the Sakhir Campus. Education Minister, UoB board of trustees’ chairman Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi and Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdul Hussein bin Ali Mirza attended the inauguration of the REL labs, which were set up in cooperation with the British Loughborough University.
Dr. Al-Nuaimi underlined the UoB development plans, based on the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to provide the best of educational services. He underlined the UoB efforts to consolidate cooperation with leading universities to develop academic programmes and promote scientific research to keep abreast of modern trends.
He hailed the UoB achievements, which ranked 213 out of 500 universities in the world which acknowledges its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Mirza underlined Bahrain’s drive to exploit sources of renewable energy to generate electricity and optimise its use, stressing the importance of consolidating cooperation between the University of Bahrain and the Sustainable Energy Centre.
He commended the UoB efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) congratulating the university and its affiliates on ranking 213 out of 500 universities in the world. UoB President Dr. Riyadh Youssef Hamza underlined the university’s efforts to take part in achieving national goals and develop renewable energy to reach the rate of 5 per cent (5%) by 2025.
