ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum held in Bangkok

BANGKOK, April 23 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, organizes the ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum in Bangkok this week, aimed to present and demonstrate outstanding food cuisine and products, as well as tourist attractions of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Thai Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat presided over a ceremony to inaugurate the regional event in the capital on April 22, acknowledging thereafter that the regional event is held following the Thai Kingdom's role as a key coordinator for the draft of the proposed ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Project in early 2018. According to the Thai minister, the draft then led to the signing of an ASEAN declaration on cooperation in the regional gastronomy cum tourism among ASEAN member states and the introduction this year of a regional master plan on gastronomy cum tourism that has been worked out by Thailand. The Thai minister said the ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum comprises of four parts, including an exhibition and showcase of outstanding cuisine and food products, as well as tourism attractions of ASEAN member countries, workshops on creative cookery, public forums on the ASEAN cuisine and a mini food film.
