HM King's order on reinstating convicts' citizenship lauded by Representatives Council

Manama, Apr. 24 (BNA): The Council of Representatives has welcomed the order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to reinstate the citizenship of 551 convicts whose nationality had been revoked as per court rulings, in line with the provisions of Article 24 bis of Law 58/2006 with respect to the Protection of the Community against Terrorist Acts stipulating that rulings related to citizenship withdrawal will not be effective unless they are approved by HM the King.
The Representatives Council asserted that the royal order on convicts’ citizenship reinstatement, and the royal directives on alternative punishment for convicts would strengthen the state of law and institution, under HM the King’s great Reform Project.
In a statement, the Council of Representatives stressed that the directives issued by the "King of humanity and tolerance" will certainly cement national unity and cohesion, as well as contribute positively to strengthening the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the nation among the convicts and their relatives.
They will also thwart the attempts of those seeking no good to the kingdom through sparking division for the sake of subverting the nation’s stability, the statement added.
The Representatives Council called on all segments of the Bahraini people to take advantage of such reform steps and others through participating positively in building the nation and enhancing its progress.
This can be done through consolidating the spirit of patriotism, loyalty to the nation, as well as respecting the law and the deep-rooted Bahraini traditions and values, the statement also said.
