DISABLED SITI AISHAH FREED FROM PAKISTANI JAIL

PENANG (Malaysia), March 31 (Bernama) -- Disabled Siti Aishah Hamid who was hoodwinked by an international syndicate to smuggle drugs has been released from a Pakistani jail and scheduled to return home Tuesday.

Bayan Baru Umno Youth head Norman Zahalan said a court in Pakistan had freed
Siti Aishah, 44, after finding her not guilty.

He said Siti Aishah from Batu Maung who suffered osteoporosis would fly from
the Karachi airport Monday heading for home.

"She is expected to arrive at KL International Airport at 7am Tuesday
before taking a connecting flight to Penang and arrive at Bayan Lepas
International Airport at 11am," he told Bernama here Monday.

Norman said the woman's husband, Jaafar Noor, was in Kuala Lumpur to receive
her.

Siti Aishah had been detained since April 27 last year. According to
reports, she was offered a tour package to Singapore after winning a contest
conducted through text messages but landed in a Pakistani jail instead for
attempting to smuggle out heroin.
