Interior Minister honours winning directorates

Manama, Apr. 30 (BNA): Under the patronage of Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, an honouring ceremony was held for directorates that had won awards of excellence in recent years. The event was attended by Interior Minister Undersecretary for Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs, Chief of Public Security, Interior Ministry Undersecretary and the President of Customs. The honouring marked the 10th anniversary of the award, in which the Interior Ministry topped other government organisations in the number of times it had won the award. The minister expressed appreciation of the high level of excellence of various departments in recent years, highlighting that the Interior Ministry moves forward in promoting all sectors towards creativity, excellence and providing the best per international standards to meet the changes and challenges to reinforce security capabilities and skills. He continued that human resources were the key in the modernisation and development process, especially with the development of information technology and communication that depend on artificial intelligence applications. He asserted the importance to promote security directorates and police stations to achieve excellence in performance and build on achievements to positively reflect on the services provided to citizens to accomplish comprehensive modern information technology and communication system. The honourees were the General Directorate of Traffic for winning in 2014 the best e-services and the General Directorate of Interior Ministry’s Court through the Information Technology and e-Creativity for winning for the official website of the ministry in 2017 and the excellent level for cybersecurity project in 2019. It was the first and only government directorate to gain this level. The honouring also covered the Information Technology and E-Systems Directorates for Najem project in 2009 as the best e-project in 2010. The Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs won for the e-visa projects in 2008 and the e-Gate in 2010.
