Bahrain calls for regional peace

New York, Apr.30 (BNA): The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Rowaie, participated in the Security Council open debate on the situation in the Middle East.
He affirmed that the international community must play a stronger role through implementing the resolutions that aim to establish peace and security in the Middle East and reach political include that include protecting the affected countries and ending interference in the internal affairs of states.
The Permanent Representative stressed that achieving a just and lasting peace in the region requires finding a solution to the Palestinian issue and granting the Palestinian people their legitimate right of establishing their independent state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the Arab Peace Initiative 2002, the Two-State Solution and other relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
On the Yemeni crisis, the Ambassador noted the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment as a part of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He stressed the need of reaching a solution that establishes peace and development in Yemen in line with the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanisms, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the relative SC resolutions, particularly Res. 2216 (2015), to end all foreign interventions in Yemen.
The Permanent Representative also addressed the spread of terrorism in the Middle East, and noted the Kingdom's hosting of the 11th Counter ISIS Finance Group Meeting in this regard.
The meeting addressed the challenges in the region posed by Daesh, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. In this context, he stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain's rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism, affirming the Kingdom's commitment to work with the international community to achieve regional and international peace and security.
