OIC SEC-GEN CAUTIONS AGAINST JUDAISATION OF AL-QUDS

DUBAI, March 31 (Bernama) -- Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC)
secretary-general Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has cautioned against a
"fierce judaisation" campaign targeting Al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Speaking at the opening of the 21st Arab Summit in Doha, he said the
initiative sought to obliterate its Arab and Islamic character by
demolishing houses.

The situation in Al-Quds called for a strong and sober stand, he said in
remarks made available here.

He mentioned his recent visit to the Gaza Strip where he took stock
of the degree of devastation and destruction wrought by the Israeli aggression.

The aggression on Gaza, he said, was marked by undeniable war crimes,
crimes against humanity as well as the use of internationally prohibited
weapons.

"It is our duty today to join our efforts to refer the perpetrators of
these crimes to specialised international courts and speed up the
reconstruction of Gaza in order to alleviate the tribulations facing the people
there," he added.
