Proposal to set up Sustainable Energy Society discussed

Manama, May 3 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received a group of engineers who suggested the idea of establishing a Bahraini Society for Sustainable Energy. The society aims at introducing the benefits of renewable energy applications and energy efficiency programmes and publishing studies and research in the field. The visiting delegation presented to the Minister the idea, which will also include its support to the work of the Center for Sustainable Energy, supervised by the minister, and the holding of exhibitions and conferences specializing in energy sustainability. The minister was briefed on the details of the idea and the extent of him providing technical and engineering support, which will contribute to unify efforts in the fields of renewable energy in the business, investment, education and scientific research sectors. Dr. Mirza suggested to the delegation the right way to take steps towards achieving the ambitious idea. The visitors expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the minister and officials for the welcome, the hospitality and the encouragement. The meeting was attended by Executive Director of the Center for Sustainable Energy Alexander Al Samahiji and the minister’s advisor, Adel Al Taho.
