Al Mutawa reiterates Bahrain’s shared commitment vis-à-vis Qatar’s Riyadh agreement pledge

Manama, May 7 (BNA): Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa has dismissed allegations and speculations concocted by social media regarding his statement on Monday evening. “There is no iota of truth to the claims posted by social media and their allegations about the statement are not in any way related to the reality on the ground,” Al Mutawa said, referring to the comments on his statement about the telephone call between His Royal Highness the Prime Minister and the Emir of Qatar. The minister said that he made a statement only to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) to clarify the official position of Bahrain and to stress the Kingdom’s commitments alongside Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt regarding the need for Qatar to honour the pledges it made in 2013 and 2014. The clarification to BNA was to make sure there would be no far-fetched interpretations or speculations. Al Mutawa stressed that he had had no contact with social media as they claimed and that their interpretation of his statement to BNA was totally incompatible with the facts.
