ABDULLAH AND JEANNE RECEIVE "TUN" TITLE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his
wife Jeanne Abdullah were Fridayy conferred the title, "Tun" from King Tuanku
Mizan Zainal Abidin at National Palace, here.

Abdullah, 69, received the nation's highest award, "Seri Maharaja Mangku
Negara" (SMN), while Jeanne, 55, the "Seri Setia Mahkota" (SSM), which also
carries the title, "Tun".

The conferment ceremony was held after the swearing-in of Najib
Razak as Malaysia's new prime minister.

Abdullah, who was appointed prime minister on Oct 31, 2003, relinquished the
post Thursday.
