Manguwan Durian Processing Plant To Create 1,200 Job Opportunities In Songkhla

SONGKHLA, July 8 (Bernama) -- The Food Co Ltd (Manguwan) durian processing plant in Hatyai, Songkhla, Southern Thailand, which began operating Sunday is set to create 1,200 job opportunities and boost economy of the district. The Manguwan durian processing plant, one of three durian processing plants in Thailand, is located on a 5.44-hectare site at Thepa, Songkhla. Its chief executive officer Xiao Yaoheng said with total investment of 700 million Baht (about US$22.75 million) the manufacturing plant is expected to provide employment to 1,200 locals. He noted that the plant would process 12 million tonnes of durian per year. "The move is to develop Southern Thailand economy and improve the people’s living standards," he told Bernama. Songkhla District Administrative Chamber former president, Nipon Bunyamani officiated the plant. Also present was Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) secretary-general Somkeart Ponprayoon.  -- BERNAMA
