NAJIB KEEPS NATION UPDATED ON BLOG
KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- Newly-installed Prime Minister Najib Razak is also a blogger who keeps the nation updated on his daily programme via www.1malaysia.com.my, with the latest news on the historic handover at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya Friday.
He has been using the new media, incorporating video messages and posting
them on YouTube, the video-sharing portal since he became deputy prime minister.
Through the website, Najib has also used Twitter, the social networking
service that allows users to send short messages to each other.
Viewers can catch his first official statement as the new prime minister on
his blog Friday.
"The tremendous support the 1Malaysia community has exhibited toward the
message of unity and tolerance has been very instructive to me and will play an
enormous role in developing the relationship between government and our
citizens," says Najib on his weblog.
Friday, he was sworn in as Malaysia's sixth prime minister, in a carefully-
planned power transition that has been one year in the making. He takes over
from Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who steps down after five and a half years in
office.
Najib has said the implementation of various programmes, in accordance with
the 'One Malaysia' concept, could unite the people of various communities in the
country in a more just manner.
The concept, he said, would be implemented in an organised and systematic
manner to ensure that no community was isolated from development of any kind.
Since elected as Umno president on March 26 at the party's general assembly,
Najib made it a point to visit the nation's largest Chinese newspaper, Sin Chew
Daily. The visit was at the initiative of his office.
During the visit, Najib told Sin Chew Daily that he was hoping to make an
official visit to China, in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of his late
father Abdul Razak's visit to the country. The latter, the nation's second
prime minister, visited China in 1974 to establish diplomatic ties.
Najib's blog is gaining popularity as he shares his thoughts and aspirations
with the public via this website.
On Friday, congratulatory messages are pouring in and are posted on his
website, with the latest message from the new PM on Twitter, the social
networking service sent via SMS.
