Minister of Foreign Affairs meets US senator, congressman

Washington, July 16 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met with the Democratic Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Robert Menendez, on the sidelines of his visit to the United States of America.
The Minister expressed Bahrain’s pride in its relations with the United States, hailing the development of strategic partnership between the two countries in the security, political, economic and commercial fields. He also noted the Bahraini-US cooperation and coordination regarding various issues at the regional and international levels to consolidate peace and security in the region and the world.
Senator Menendez praised the bilateral relations and highlighted cooperation between the two countries especially in the military and security fields as the U.S. 5th Fleet is based in Bahrain. He also expressed his appreciation of the Kingdom hosting the Peace to Prosperity Workshop, recognizing the Bahraini efforts in reinforcing development in the countries of the region.
The Minister also met with the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and Nonproliferation, Congressman Brad Sherman.
The meeting reviewed ways to further develop the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in all fields to face all challenges and overcome all issues targeting the international community.
Congressman Sherman lauded the efforts of Bahrain in establishing regional peace and security. He also commended the success of the Peace to Prosperity Workshop which was hosted by the Kingdom as a reflection of the Bahraini-US partnership that aims at supporting regional development.
The Congressman stressed the need for the international community to combat the Iranian threats in the region to achieve stability for all countries.
