RLYC MAY ORGANISE INTERNATIONAL JAKARTA-LANGKAWI REGATTA

LANGKAWI (Malaysia), April 4 (Bernama) -- The Royal Langkawi Yacht Club (RLYC) are expected to finalise details involved in organising a Jakarta-Langkawi International Regatta in the near future.

Langkawi Yacht Club Berhad executive director Wicky Sundram said since the
regatta would involve a long distance and probably require a number of stops in
international waters, technical details need to be discussed.

"We may have to stopover at Port Klang and Singapore during the course of
the race to Jakarta," he told reporters after the signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) between Royal Langkawi Yacht Club and Batavia Marina Club
from Jakarta, in this northern island resort Saturday.

RLYC was represented by its Commodore Tunku Ya'acob Tunku Abdullah while
Batavia Marina Club's president Heru Promono signed on behalf of the club.

According to RLYC, the signing of the MoU was to enable members of both
clubs to use each others facilities, as well as promote the development of
sailing.

Wicky Sundram added that RLYC would hold discussions with their Singapore
counterparts to ensure the success of the regatta that is certain to attract
world class sailing teams.

"Through the MoU, we have also invited the Batavia Marina Club to take part
in our 2010 Royal Langkawi International Regatta scheduled from Jan 8-15.
