Foreign Ministry Undersecretary meets UN technical officials

New York: July 19 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, met the Head of Human Rights Directorate of the United Nations, and the Head of the Junior Professional Officer Programme, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Matteo Sasso, on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah expressed the aspiration of the Kingdom of Bahrain to enhance various aspects of cooperation with the United Nations, particularly programs and projects related to exchange of expertise and capacity development between the two sides.
He stressed the interest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, especially with the JPO Service Centre.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held a specialized workshop on effective participation in the United Nations General Assembly in partnership with Tamkeen in order to develop the capacities of national cadres in this important international forum and in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs welcomed the growing partnership with the United Nations, which aims at optimizing strategic investment in humans and providing the environment for national cadres to succeed and promote the Kingdom abroad in line with the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, in addition to other government plans and programs.
The two officials welcomed the existing cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of human capacity development and the exchange of experiences. They praised the Kingdom's keenness to coordinate with the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and benefit from its specialized programs.
