Qatar Participates in 39th Session of the Directors-General Meeting of Customs in the Arab States

Cairo, July 24 (QNA) - The 39th Session of the Directors-General Meeting of Customs in the Arab States began on Wednesday, chaired by Director General of the Administration of Customs of the State of Kuwait Counselor Jamal Al Jalawi and with the participation of customs managers in Arab countries and Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs at the Arab League Ambassador Kamal Hassan Ali. The State of Qatar participated in the meeting with a delegation from the General Authority of Customs. The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the unified Arab Customs Union, including the study of a memorandum on the reservations of some Arab countries to some articles of the Unified Arab Customs Cooperation Agreement. The discussions aim to develop a consensus formula and submit them to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, as well as a follow-up on the issue of the customs procedures and information committee and follow up the work of the harmonization committee of the coordinator system translations, Arab initiative on security and facilitation of trade supply chain and the Unified Arab Customs Cooperation Agreement, with a view to urging States that haven't signed the agreement, as currently drafted, to sign quickly, in implementation of Economic and Social Council resolutions. The meeting will also discuss a memorandum on the organization of transit transport between the Arab countries in order to promote and develop the economic ties between the Arab member countries in the free trade area, considering that the land transport of goods is one of the most important elements or impediments to those ties between the achievement of intra-Arab trade.
