Iranian envoy, Lebanese premier discuss reconstruction efforts

Beirut, April 5, IRNA

Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad-Reza Sheibani on Sunday held
talks with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora on Iranian assistance
to Lebanese reconstruction.

During the meeting, Sheibani voiced the Islamic Republic of Iran
willingness to help reconstruct Lebanon's war-torn areas.

Referring to Iranian reconstruction efforts in Lebanon, Iranian
diplomat said that Iran would proceed with assistance to Lebanon's
development and reconstruction projects.

He said Iran has completed different construction projects throughout
Lebanon so far, adding some other projects are currently under
construction.

Sheibani added the Iranian Headquarters for Reconstruction in Lebanon
was launched in 2006.

Since the end of Zionist regime's 33-day imposed war on Lebanon,
Iranians have completed over 400 construction projects in Lebanon.

Iranian Headquarters was accepted to complete some 600 construction
projects, including academic, religious and medical centers, bridges,
rural infrastructure facilities and power stations, of which some 70
percent are already completed.

Iran has also undertaken to rebuild 375 kilometers of damaged highways
and roads in Lebanon, 200 kilometers of which, or 55 percent of the
job, is now completed.

The Zionist regime martyred over 1,000 Lebanese people and inflicted
losses around billion dollars on Lebanon's infrastructure in the
course of their 33-day aggression on Lebanon.

Iran and some other countries have shouldered reconstruction of
Lebanon since 2006.
