Spain Beaten By Malaysia In Hockey Four Nations Tournament

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- With a fighting spirit, the Malaysian Tigers defeated world number nine Spain 4-3 at the Four Nations Tournament on Thursday in Terrassa, Spain. At first, the Malaysian Tigers were down 0-1 when Spanish player, Xavi Lleonart, scored a goal 10 minutes into the first period. Then, in the 24th minute, Albert Beltran, added a second goal for the Spaniards. The alarmed pupils of chief coach, Roelant Oltmans, then fought back a minute later with a penalty corner goal by national forward, Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Abdul Jalil, to narrow the gap 1-2 before the half-time whistle. Six minutes (the 36th minute) into the second period, Spanish player, Alvaro Iglesias, flicked the ball into the net from the pitch to score the third goal. Malaysia, not willing to allow Spain to get its way, scored a penalty corner goal in the 49th minute through midfielder, Nik Muhammad Aiman Nik Rozemi, followed by a field goal in the 60th minute from forward, Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook. The decisive goal in Malaysia’s second test match of their European Tour was scored by defender, Muhammad Razie B.
