Premier’s 'International Day of Conscience' initiative praised by UN official

Manama: Aug 2. (BNA): UN Resident Coordinator Amin Sharqawi hailed the initiative of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa which, he said, reflects his far-sighted vision that advocates correlation between peace and development. He hailed the UN declaration of April 5 as the Universal Day of Conscience which reflects HRH the Premier’s firm belief in the importance of peace, security and stability to achieve development worldwide. He commended Bahrain’s record of cooperation, launching in tandem with United Nations many initiatives and prizes promoting the 17th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He pointed out that HRH the Premier was conferred many international prizes, including the World Health Organization (WHO) Award for his leadership in advancing global healthcare. He cited also the Special Citation of the Habitat Scroll of Honour Award which reflects HRH the Premier's firm belief in the UN noble mission, objectives and lofty principles. He stressed the UN designation of the April 5 each year to be an “International Day of Conscience as an incentive to encourage states and governments to adopt such far-sighted approach and steps towards serving the causes of development and peace and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. He commended HRH the Premier’s commitment to settling international conflicts peacefully, laying the foundations of peace, tackling the tragic situations resulting from conflicts and confronting security, political and economic challenges.
