Akhakgwebom, Cultural Heritage of Korean Nation

Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- Akhakgwebom, a book on musical theory, is one of the Korean nation's cultural heritages. Compiled in August 1493, this book systematized the medieval music and dance. It consists of nine volumes. Vol. 1 deals with musical theory and Vols. 2-5 carry practical contents. Vols. 6-9 show musical instruments, stage costumes and props. Contained in the book are 50-odd musical pieces performed from the period of Koryo (918-1392), over 30 kinds of dances and more than 200 songs, words and old folk songs. -0-
