MANMOHAN CONGRATULATES NAJIB

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
has congratulated Najib Tun Razak on his appointment as prime
minister.

"Please accept my warm greetings and felicitations on your swearing-in as
the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

"I extend my best wishes for the continued success and prosperity of
Malaysia under your able leadership," he said in a statement here Wednesday.

Manmohan Singh said that relations between India and Malaysia were based
on sound foundations of historical, cultural and social links and reinforced by
shared interests and concerns.

"We are happy that this important relationship has diversified and acquired
new depth and dynamism in recent years, bilaterally and also in the regional and
multilateral spheres.

"I look forward to working with you to consolidate our partnership in all
its dimensions, taking advantages of the untapped potential and emerging new
opportunities," he added.
