Let’s plant 650,000 trees: A small forest depicting image of great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi to be created in Shamakhi

Shamakhi, October 15, AZERTAC As part of Azerbaijan`s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva’s initiative of planting 650,000 trees in the country in one day to mark the 650th birthday anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi, a small forest depicting the image of the poet will be created in Shamakhi, the birthplace of the poet. Initiated by Azerbaijan`s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, this project aims to promote the legacy of Imadaddin Nasimi all over the world. Public figures, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, executive authorities, non-governmental organizations and young volunteers will join the initiative. Planting 650,000 trees in the country in one day will help reduce 2,6 thousand cubic meters of CO2 emissions each year. This will make also significant contribution to the climate change mitigation and environmental protection. Preparations for the large-scale event has already started in Shamakhi. President Ilham Aliyev declared 2019 as a Year of Nasimi in Azerbaijan.
