FOUR MALAYSIANS KILLED IN ROAD CRASH IN MEDINA



KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- Four Malaysians and an Indonesian were
killed when the bus they were travelling in was involved in a road accident in
Bir Ali, Medina, Saudi Arabia Wednesday.

The Malaysians killed were identified as Mohamad Ali Borhan, 68, from
Melaka, Rozita Jamaludin, 43, from Perak, Sam Mad Saman, 60, from Selangor and
Abdul Jalil Ahmad, 66, from Negeri Sembilan.

A Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) spokesman when contacted by Bernama said the
victims would be buried in Medina after the completion of the documentation
process.

"Their documents have been taken by Medina police, while the Malaysian
Consulate there will make the funeral arrangements. The families of the victims
have also been informed about the tragedy," the spokesman said.

Another Malaysian, Rohani Aziz, 55 who was injured in the accident, is
warded at the Neeqat General Hospital in Medina and reported to be in stable
condition.


Thirteen other Malaysians in the travelling Umrah group escaped unhurt and
are now staying at the Jawharat Fairus Hotel in Medina.

The road crash happened at 8.30am local time, when the bus carrying 19 Umrah
pilgrims from Malaysia was said to have collided with a pick-up truck which had
skidded and entered the opposite lane, about 40km from Medina.

The group had just arrived in Jeddah from Malaysia and were on their way to
Medina.
