CHALLENGES IN MUSLIM WORLD TO BE DISCUSSED IN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The current challenges in Afghanistan
and Pakistan and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's role there will be
discussed at an international conference to be held here on May 5.

Themed "North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) and its Policies in Asia",
it is organised by the World Futures Online, a political Islamic portal at
http://wfol.tv, and will be held at the Sime-Darby Convention Centre.

World Futures Organisation for Malaysia (WFOM) president Kazi Mahmood said
in a statement today the conference would discuss, among others, the current
challenges faced by the Muslim world where Nato had a presence and was under
criticism for the way its military campaigns were conducted.

The conference, supported by several international NGOs including Future
Global Network of Malaysia, StopNato Network of Chicago and the Warisan Melayu
Riau, Indonesia, would also discuss on the Melaka Straits and Nato's presence
there.

"The conference is aimed at creating global awareness about Nato's policies
and its possible ramifications not only to the Muslim world such as the Middle
East and Central Asia but also other parts of the world.

"We believe that the Muslim Ummah across the world need to know about this
historic conference that can contribute towards bringing world peace and an end
to wars that have devastated many Muslim nations," he said.

Kazi said five speakers including three from overseas had been invited to
speak at the conference to be attended by at least 200 invited guests including
diplomats and academicians.

The WFOM commenced its operation six years ago and is based in Ampang,
Selangor.
