MAS SCRAPS CHARGES FOR CARGO TRANSHIPPED VIA ADVANCED CARGO CENTRE

PETALING JAYA (Malaysia), April 10 (Bernama) -- Terminal charges will be
scrapped for cargo transhipped via Malaysia Airlines' advanced cargo centre for
six months effective Friday, MASkargo managing director, Shahari Sulaiman said
Friday.

The current rebate for both air to air, land/rail to air and sea to air
transhipment of 75 percent and 50 percent, respectively will be increased to 100
percent.

With the current economic crisis, "we hope this will be able to assist the
cargo industry cope and make the KLIA a more attractive hub for transhipment,"
he said.

"We hope to see a five percent improvement in transhipment cargo," which is
considered good under the current scenario," said Shahari.

Last year, MASkargo transhipped about 60 percent or 353,000 tonnes from the
total overall cargo volume.
