TOURISM MINISTRY TO INTRODUCE PACKAGE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Tourism Ministry is planning to introduce a special tourism package for senior citizens or known as the "Golden Third Age (G3A)" group, its new minister Dr Ng Yen Yen said.
She said focus should be given to this group as most of them had the time
and money to spend on vacations.
"The industry should be creative in creating a tourism package that is
suitable for this group," she said after opening the "Golden Third Age - Elegant
and Healthy programme" at the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry
here Saturday.
Ng said two main factors should be considered in creating the suitable
tourism package for the group, namely appropriate activities and nourishment.
"For instance, we cannot have mountain climbing activity lined up for this
group and the food we provide should also suit their diet," she said.
The minister said the package would be offered to the senior citizens, both
local and foreign.
She said the Tourism Ministry would also discuss and collaborate with other
ministries to strengthen and further diversify the country's tourism products.
Earlier, Ng, accompanied by her husband, was thrown a surprise party for her
63rd birthday by the Women, Family and Community Ministry's staff and officers.
