Yemen to restore archaeological mosques in Zabid

SANA'A, April 11(Saba) - Ministry of Religious Endowment and Islamic
Affairs is to restore five archaeological mosques, dated back to the
3rd century AH, in Zabid city of Hodeidah governorate.

Well-infirmed sources told the 26Sept.net that the Ministry has
initiated the preparations for a restoration campaign for the
historical and archaeological mosques in Zabid city, noting that the
five mosques are just a first phase.

The campaign comes under the government's plan to protect the
historical city of Zabid and to avoid removing Zabid city from the
List of World Heritage.

Minister of Religious Endowment and Islamic Affairs Hamoud al-Hitar
will pay a visit to Zabid city next Wednesday to put the foundation
stone of the restoration campaign.
