Vietnam seeks closer judicial cooperation with Italy


Hanoi (VNA) - A delegation of the Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, led by
its First Vice Chairman Truong Vinh Trong, who is also Politburo member and
Deputy Prime Minister, paid a working visit to Italy from April 7-11.

During their stay in Italy , the delegation had working sessions with leaders of
the Italian Government, Ministry of Justice, Supreme Court, Judicial Supreme
Council and Bar Association to discuss the judicial reform and cooperation.

During the discussions, the delegation learned about Italy 's judicial system and
briefed the hosts of Vietnam 's renewal policies and its efforts in the national
renewal cause as well as in the judicial reform.

The Italian side affirmed their willingness to boost multifaceted cooperation with
Vietnam and support for Vietnam to strengthen its cooperation with the
European Union. They said Italy would send judicial experts to Vietnam to
assist the latter's reform.

The two sides appreciated the bilateral relations, which have been developed in
various fields, including the judicial, and stressed the need to enhance the
cooperation to match with their potential and positions.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Trong conveyed sympathies to families of the victims of
the recent tragical earthquake in central Italy.-Enditem
