FLOODS INUNDATE HUNDREDS OF HOUSES IN BENGKULU

Bengkulu, Apr 13 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of houses in the low-laying areas of Bengkulu city were inundated on Sunday following two days of incessant rains.

The floods hit Tanjung Agung, Tanjung Jaya, Sungai Serut and Rawa Makmur villages after the Rawa Makmur river overflowed, an Antara journalist observed.
Beny, a local resident, said knee-deep flood waters began to inundate his house on Saturday morning following overnight downpours.
The floods forced some of Rawa Makmur residents to take refuge at their relatives' houses while others remained in their flooded homes, he said.
The floods also inundated tens of hectares of paddy fields.
