300 HOUSES SUBMERGED BY FLOOD WATER



Dharmasraya, W Sumatra, Apr 13 (ANTARA) - At least 300 houses at Koto Besar village in West Sumatra province were submerged by 3-meter deep flood water on Sunday but there was no immediate report of casualties.

The flood which was the biggest in the past few years affected the village due to the overflowing of Siat river following heavy rains since Saturday night, Koto Besar village head Jastul Mizi said on Sunday evening.
"The affected residents have fled their home to higher grounds. Some of them are being sheltered at elementary school buildings while others are staying with their relatives," he said.
