UAE PRESIDENT RECEIVES M'SIAN ENVOY'S CREDENTIALS

DUBAI, April 13 (Bernama) -- United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh
Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Sunday, the credential letters from the
new Malaysian ambassador to this Gulf state, Yahaya Abdul Jabar.
The ceremony took place at the Al Bateen Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi,
according to an embassy official.
Yahaya was accompanied by the mission's first secretary, Abdulah Ma'amor
Ibrahim, and Malaysian consul-general in Dubai Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku
Hussin.
Penang-born (northern state in Peninsular Malaysia) Yahaya, 57, replaces
Abdul Mubin Razali.
Prior to his current posting, Yahaya served as high commissioner to South
Africa from August 2004 and was chief of protocol at the Malaysian Foreign
Ministry from May 2003 to 2004.
He was also ambassador to Uzbekistan from 1999 to 2003.
Yahaya served in various capacities at Malaysian missions in Saudi Arabia,
Indonesia, Italy and Thailand.
The envoy is married to Saedah Sanip.
Sheikh Khalifa also received credential letters from the ambassadors of
South Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Japan, Kenya, Comoros and Greece.
