Bahrain reviews its human rights experience during OIC workshop

Jeddah, Nov. 30 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has made significant achievements and progress in the field of Human Rights at all national levels.
He added that the Kingdom now has an experience in legislation and laws related to human rights and in writing and presenting reports in the human rights field at the highest international standards.
This came during his participation in the workshop held by the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, on the sidelines of the 16th meeting during the period 24-28 November at the OIC’s headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He also stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to protect and develop the human rights, stemming from the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in implementation of the Government Action Plan, the Fiscal Balance Programme, and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 which aims to create a successful economic and investment climate.
He also noted the role of the High Coordinating Committee in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the objectives it aims to achieve by cooperating and coordinating with several official and governmental bodies, as well as its role in writing and reviewing national reports and implement their recommendations, in addition to drawing the national plan for Human Rights and working on relevant studies.
The Assistant Foreign Minister also reviewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience in preparing and submitting the national reports of the universal periodic review mechanism as well as the Kingdom’s main achievements in several economic, humanitarian and social levels.
He also pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain was distinguished in adopting a plan to link the achievement of the 2030 SDGs with the Government Action Plan and the recommendations of the Universal Periodic Review Mechanism, being the first country to achieve this in the Middle East and among the leading countries in the world.
