EMIRATIS ADVISED TO AVOID TRAVEL TO THAILAND
By Muin Abdul Majid
DUBAI, April 14 (Bernama) -- United Arab Emirates' (UAE) nationals have
been urged not to travel to Thailand where anti-government protests prompted the
cancellation of Asean meetings, according to a report.
The travel advisory was issued by the UAE embassy in Bangkok, Gulf News
daily reported.
It quoted the mission's charge d'affaires, Mohammad Yousuf Mohammad, as
saying that it would assist Emiratis returning from the trouble-hit Southeast
Asian country.
The embassy confirmed that all UAE citizens in Thailand were fine, the
report said.
The so-called Red Shirt movement stormed the venue of the 14th Asean
Summit and related summits in Pattaya Saturday, forcing their cancellation.
Bangkok and several other places have been put under a state of emergency,
following tension between the government and supporters of ousted prime minister
Thaksin Shinawatra.
