KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- The Sixth Annual Summit of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), which aims to develop a robust future for the Islamic financial services industry, will be held on May 7-8 in Singapore.
In a statement here Monday, IFSB said the summit, themed "The Future of
Islamic Financial Services", would held under the patronage of Singapore's
Senior Minister, Goh Chok Tong.
The summit will be organised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, it
said.
The board said a wide spectrum of chairpersons, speakers and delegates from
the United States, United Kingdom, European Unions, as well as the Middle East
and North Africa and Asian regions had confirmed their participation.
Among the international organisations and market players that have confirmed
chairing and speaking in the summit were Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al-Madani
(president, Islamic Development Bank); Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj (governor,
Central Bank of Bahrain); Kim Jong Chang (governor, Financial Supervisory
Service of South Korea); Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz (governor, Malaysia's Central
Bank); Sheikh Abdulla Saoud Al-Thani (governor, Qatar Central Bank) and Dr
Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser (governor, Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and
chairman of the council of the IFSB).
It said Malaysia, South Korea and a third country would organise the Country
Showcases, which would be held on May 6, 2009.
IFSB said the summit and the country showcases would provide excellent
networking platforms for intellectual exchange of ideas and discussions for
potential investments and business partnerships, especially for and among the
185 IFSB members as well as the local, regional and international financial
community.
