Japan to help Jordan introduce nuclear power+

TOKYO, April 14 Kyodo -
Japan agreed Tuesday to offer Jordan the necessary know-how to safely build and
operate nuclear power plants, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and
Industry said Tuesday.
Jordan plans to introduce nuclear power generation in 2017. Japan's cooperation
with the Middle Eastern country will range from helping develop infrastructure
to offering know-how to prevent proliferation of nuclear technology, METI said.
With the agreement, representatives from the two countries will start work to
compile a memorandum of cooperation.
Japan has a 50-year history of developing nuclear power generation and manages
53 reactors, the ministry said.
