Thailand, Malaysia Discuss Cooperation on Livestock Development
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, JAN 16 (TNA) – Senior Thai and Malaysian officials met in Thai South to exchange information on animal diseases and discuss livestock trade as well as cooperation in animal breeding.
Thai Director-General of Livestock Development Department, Sorawit Thaneeto on Thursday opened the 7thJoint Thailand-Malaysia Sub-Committee Meeting on Livestock Development to boost economic potential between the two countries and monitor animal infectious diseases.
The meeting, held at a hotel in Prachuap Khiri Khan province was attended by about 70 Thai and Malaysia officials.
The meeting discussed cooperation on gene-based technology in ruminant breeding and reported the situation of animal outbreaks in both countries.
Control of animal movement and animal quarantine are among measures to prevent the spread of the diseases.
They held talks on import and export procedures to boost bilateral trade including bird nest export from Malaysia to Thailand and exports of zebra doves, goat and sheep meat from Thailand to Malaysia.
Malaysia is also interested to export giblets and chicken legs to Thailand. (TNA)
