Seychelles President visits national museum, theatre

Manama, Jan. 16 (BNA): Seychelles President, Danny Faure, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, today visited the Bahrain National Museum and the Bahrain National Theatre. The visit is on the sidelines of President Danny Faure’s current official visit to the kingdom. On arrival, the Seychelles President was welcomed by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, and senior officials. Shaikha Mai welcomed the Seychelles President, stressing the importance of developing cultural relations between the two friendly countries. The Seychelles President and his accompanying delegation were informed about the Bahrain National Museum’s sections, as well as artifacts, collectibles and historical information that tell the story of Bahrain since the Dilmun Civilisation until now. While touring the museum, President Danny Faure visited the Hall of Dilmun Graves, where he was informed about the iconic Burial Mounds of Bahrain - currently listed on the tentative UNESCO World Heritage list. Then, he moved to the temporary exhibition hall, where the ‘Dive into the Jurassic’ exhibition is held. He was also briefed about the role played by the Bahrain National Museum to build bridges of cultural rapprochement between Bahrain and the rest of the world, through hosting artistic and cultural events throughout the year. The Seychelles President also paid a visit to the 46th Bahrain Annual Fine Art Exhbition, opened yesterday under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and held at the Bahrain National Museum and the Bahrain National Theatre. He also visited the Bahrain National Theatre, and was informed about its cultural achievements over the past, as well as role in hosting international artistic shows, which contributed to enhancing Bahrain’s status as a regional and golbal centre for civilisational aand cultural production.
