Over 30 department leaders attend public policy course
Hanoi (VNA) - A training course to familiarize more than 30 local department leaders with Vietnam's 2009 public policies, started on April 13.
Participants at the workshop, which is being held by the ministries of Home Affairs
and Planning and Investment, will learn about developments in the global market,
financial-economic issues and the Government's strategies on public management.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the course will improve the management
capabilities of leaders in central and provincial-level departments so they can
leader their localities through the process of industrialization, modernization and
international integration.
Course participants need to engage in active discussions with lecturers to improve
their knowledge, which can then be applied to their localities, said William Costin,
a consultant of the Public Policy Training Programme, which is funded by the
Japanese Government in cooperation with the ministries hosting the course.
At the course, lecturers from Singapore 's Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policy
will present topics such as Vietnam 's economic development in the globalization
process, foundations for sustainable economic development and international
integration in Singapore 's experience. This year, about 400 local leaders
will have the chance to take part in the public policy workshop.-Enditem
