'Prayers with you': NBA remembers Turkey quake victims

ISTANBUL NBA in a game on Tuesday between Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans commemorated the victims of a recent deadly earthquake in Turkey. Electronic billboards displayed: "Our Prayers are with you Elazig and Malatya", referring to the eastern provinces of Turkey where a 6.8-magnitude quake claimed 41 lives and injured more than a thousand others. "I thank all the members of the @cavs organization for showing their unity and support to the victims of Elazig earthquake. Proud to be a member of this lovely family," Cleveland Cavaliers' Turkish international Cedi Osman said in a tweet. Meanwhile, NBA players Spencer Dinwiddie and Terrence Ross changed their jersey numbers after American legend Kobe Bryant's tragic death in a helicopter crash last week. Both players will move on from number 8 to honor the legacy of Bryant, who played his entire 20-season career with Los Angeles Lakers. He wore numbers 8 and 24 during his decorated career. Joel Embiid wore number 24 and scored 24 points on against Golden State Warriors as Philadelphia 76ers honored Bryant. Philadelphia 76ers also observed a moment of silence and rang nine bells to recognize the lives lost in the crash. The 76ers beat Golden State Warriors 115-104 in the Tuesday game.
