DPM OPENS 2ND ASEAN AND ASIA FORUM TOMORROW

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin
will open the 2nd Asean and Asia Forum Friday.

Hosted by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, Muhyiddin will
also deliver a keynote address at the closing of the forum themed "Risks and
Opportunities", the deputy prime minister's office said in a statement Thursday.

To be held at the Meritus Mandarin Hotel, the forum will discuss and
reassess Asean's role in the wider context of Asia and play a more active role
in facing the current global economic and financial crises.

Some 300 participants are to attend the forum.
