MALAYSIA VISIT FOR LUCKY CARLTON FOOTBALL FANS
By Neville D'Cruz
MELBOURNE, April 17 (Bernama) -- Thanks to Tourism Malaysia, a number of
lucky Carlton Football Club supporters here will soon experience the highlights
of a visit to Malaysia.
Carlton's joint major sponsor, Tourism Malaysia, was the official match day
sponsor for the Carlton versus Essendon match at the famous Melbourne Cricket
Ground (MCG) last Saturday that attracted a crowd of more than 70,000.
Tourism Malaysia promotional staff were outside Gate 3 at the MCG to hand
out special Carlton/Tourism Malaysia banners to supporters as they entered the
ground for the blockbuster.
Before the match, a number of Carlton supporters waving their Tourism
Malaysia banners were selected at random, each invited to compete in a kicking
competition on the ground, with the winner receiving two return air tickets to
Malaysia.
The Tourism Malaysia promotion was extended to the official Carlton
President's Dinner with one guest at the dinner winning a trip for two to
Malaysia.
This was a business card draw prize and included return air travel to Penang
and accommodation at Shangri-La's magnificent Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa in
Penang where a number of Carlton players and coaches enjoyed a few days in
January.
It may have been a disappointing result for Carlton on the ground after
losing by just four points 17.14 (116) to 16.16 (112), but off the field it was
an exciting evening for the Carlton players and fans and a successful event for
Tourism Malaysia.
