Bahrain marks Arab Human Rights Day

Manama, Mar. 17 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has today celebrated the Arab Human Rights Day, held this year under the theme “Right of Participation in Cultural Life”. The Parliament Bureau hailed the pivotal role of His Majesty King Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in enhancing Bahrain’s human rights record and promoting the culture of human rights. The bureau issued a statement, hailing the HM the King’s royal decree pardoning a number of convicts, for humanitarian reasons, which reflects royal keenness on instilling tolerance and pardon. The statement hailed the role of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa in drawing up strategic plans and quality programmes to support human rights. The Parliament Bureau paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for his follow-up. It saluted all segments of Bahraini society for their longstanding keenness on co-existence, tolerance openness as well as their support to religious liberties for all people, which turned the Kingdom of Bahrain into a beacon of peaceful coexistence. It stressed the importance of the right to cultural life and the consolidation of gender equal opportunity, in addition to engaging youth to take part in cultural activities and support official and community efforts. It called upon the Arab and international parliamentary community to exert all efforts to support the right to participate in cultural life, being an integral part of human rights in the world.
