Gulf Press Union calls to provide the best conditions for journalists' field work

Manama, Mar. 18 (BNA): The Gulf Press Union called on all Gulf newspapers chief editors to make greater efforts in combating Covid-19.
It urged them to dedicate pages to spread awareness on what GCC health ministries take measures to combat this new virus, and to protect the journalists who are in the front lines of covering the updates over it.
The union’s President Khalid bin Hamad Al-Malik said that journalism plays a great role in spreading awareness, confronting rumors and misinformation, and preventing intimidation.
The union’s Secretary General Isa Al Shaiji stressed the importance of protecting journalists and providing the best conditions that suit their field work, pointing out that preventing the spread of the virus in newspapers headquarters is an important issue that would help journalism to work constantly as trustable source of information.
“This stage requires close cooperation between the Gulf press and Gulf governments,” he said.
