COVID-19: LZNK Offers Online Tithe Payment System
ALOR SETAR (Kedah, Malaysia) April 1 (Bernama) -- The Kedah Zakat Board (LZNK) has set up an online collection system for “zakat fitrah” (personal tithe) to make it easier for the people to fulfil their obligation this year amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The LZNK in a statement today announced that the board has set up several online payment platforms, namely the Jom Zakat website (http://jom.zakatkedah.com.my); Asnaf Care (http://asnafcare.com.my) and Zakat On Touch (ZOT) application.
"These platforms would facilitate the public and ensure that the zakat collection process in Kedah this year would run smoothly following the COVID-19 outbreak.
"LZNK is also in the process of providing zakat payment facilities through e-wallet such as Touch ‘n Go, Boost and others and will be working with several telecommunications companies to facilitate the payment of the zakat," it said.
For those who do not have internet access, LZNK will consult with the authorities soon to allow the zakat collection process to be carried out manually in their respective “kariah” (administrative areas) without ignoring the standard operating procedure (SOP).
This year, the zakat fitrah rates in Kedah are RM7, RM14 and RM21 depending on the type of rice consumed, it said.
