MOU SIGNED FOR TOP-UP DEGREE PROGRAMME

KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 (Bernama) -- The International College of Health
Sciences (ICHS) has tied up with United Kingdom-based Canterbury Christ Church
University (Canterbury) to offer a top-up degree programme in nursing.

The collaboration, which was sealed in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
signed here Friday, will allow diploma holders -- students and working adults --
to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing.

"Canterbury is recognised as one of the top providers of higher education in
the UK, specialised in the areas of Health and Allied Sciences.

"Thus, we decided to bring the degree programme syllabus specifically in the
health science subject from Canterbury in order to develop world-class nurses
and to produce quality nursing practitioners to serve the community," ICHS
deputy executive chairman Daud Ahmad told Bernama.

Canterbury was represented at the signing ceremony by its Senior Ambassador
to the Vice Chancellor Prof Kate Springett, who is also Canterbury's head of
Department of Allied Health Professions.

ICHS is a local private university and currently offers a diploma programme
in nursing.
