Bahrain takes part in GCC virtual labour meeting

Manama, Apr. 3(BNA): The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Labour Ministries Undersecretaries’ Committee held an urgent virtual coordination meeting. Labour and Social Development Ministry Undersecretary Sabah Salem Al-Dosari took part in video call, which highlighted GCC precautionary measures to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The officials focused particularly on the efforts being exerted by the GCC member states to protect workers to ensure public safety and health and maintain production in the private sector companies. They also reviewed GCC initiatives to ensure a safe work environment, boost productions. Al-Dosary highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to maintain continued workflow in the private sector firms, stressing assistance to establishment to continue contributing to national development. The officials stressed commitment to preserving the rights of GCC nationals and expatriates working in the private sector, taking into account national legislations and in compliance with the international labour standards. They stressed the importance of mitigating the pandemic impact on the GCC economic and the stability of the labour market.
