Large international, media interest in International Day of Conscience

Manama, Apr. 5 (BNA): The celebration of the International Day of Conscience (IDC), launched as per an initiative by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and adopted by the UN, has drawn wide-ranging international and media interest.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) marked the first edition of the IDC, considering it as a means to regularly mobilise the efforts of the international community to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity, in order to build a sustainable world of solidarity, harmony and peace.
The Arab League also welcomed the initiative launched by HRH the Prime Minister on the proclamation of April 5 as an International Day of Conscience.
In this regard, an official source at the Arab League’s Secretariat-General said that the Secretary-General appreciated the Bahraini initiative reflecting an accurate understanding of today’s world and the values that should be promoted to develop the mechanisms that regulate government and international action and relations between peoples and governments.
Chairman of the Egyptian-Bahraini Friendship Society and former Egyptian Minister of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Mufid Shehab, affirmed that the UN’s declaration of the International Day of Conscience, in response to HRH Premier’s initiative reflects the wisdom of HRH Premier and the Bahraini leaders.
HRH Premier’s pioneering initiative was adopted by the UN because conscience is the best means to achieve happiness, prosperity, real development, as well as solve human problems, he said.
Egyptian MP and professor of Islamic philosophy at al-Azhar University, Amina Nasir, expressed her pride as an Arab citizen in Bahrain’s initiative to awaken global conscience.
She lauded HRH Premier’s initiative, noting that it consolidates global peace and security.
Nile International Channel also broadcast a report on the celebration of the International Day of Conscience, stressing the importance of HRH Premier’s call for the appointment of ambassadors of global conscience, in order to stimulate the human conscience to contribute to the resolution of issues facing humanity in the political, economic, social and environmental fields.
Egypt-based “Al-Ahram”, “Al-Akhbar”, “Rose El Youssef”, “Sawt Al-Umma”, “Al-Dustour”, “Youm7”, “Al-Masry Al-Youm” and “Sada Al-Arab” newspapers also hailed the UN’s celebration of the International Day of Conscience in response to an initiative by HRH Premier, stressing the importance of the initiative in laying the foundations for peace and focusing on achieving sustainable development goals for the best interests of the entire humanity.
