Following HRH Premier’s initiative: United Nations marks International Day of Conscience

Manama, Apr. 5(BNA): The United Nations has today marked the first maiden International Day of Conscience, following an initiative launched by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
International human rights organisations hailed the unique initiative which, they said, represents a further achievement in Bahrain’s record and reflects HRH the Premier’s standing and efforts to promote global peace.
The stance was voiced by the Gulf-European Human Rights Centre, the Arab Alliance for the Arab Human Rights Court, the World Al-Risala Human Rights Organisation, Bahrain Human Rights Watch, Yemeni Coalition for Human Rights, the Arab Network for Human Rights Information and the Arab Observatory for Labour Rights and Liberties.
“The world is now in dire need for this Bahraini initiative, especially as world today faces COVID-19, which requires international solidarity and the awakening of a global conscience, to deal with the effects of this global pandemic”, they said.
They hailed HRH the Premier’s initiatives and strenuous efforts to achieve world peace and promoting international solidarity and cooperation so as to bolster sustainable development efforts.
They said the annual UN day would crowns HRH the Premier as one of the leading international personalities that contributed to promoting the values of peace, coexistence, moderation, tolerance, development and harmony in the world.
The day, annually observed on the 5th of April,
highlights Bahrain’s pioneering role in serving humanitarian issues and promoting the global partnership for peace and stability, in pursuit of world peace, harmony and stability, that brings together countries and peoples, as well as the love and synergy that drives development efforts for the sake of humanity.
The international organisations announced that they would organized a virtual human rights conference, during which their general coordinator Faisal Folath would present a paper titled “International Day of Conference / Kingdom of Bahrain as a model”.
