Shura Council welcomes ceasefire in Yemen

Manama, Apr. 9(BNA): The Shura Council welcomed the stance of the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, announcing a ceasefire in Yemen for a period of two weeks, starting on Thursday, April 9. “The ceasefire will contribute to supporting the efforts to achieve peace and stability for the Yemeni people, so that it can continue development, led by the legitimate Yemeni government”, it said. It backed the decision of the Alliance to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, appreciating the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to preserve the unity and sovereignty of Yemen, and to ensure security and stability for the Yemeni people. It hailed the decision which reflects a sense of responsibility and concern for the lives of the Yemeni people, especially in light of the exceptional health conditions experienced by the countries of the world due to the spread of the coronavirus (Covid 19). It hoped the the efforts of the coalition would succeed in paving the way for the resumption of the political process and consultations between the Yemeni parties to reach a comprehensive political solution In Yemen.
